TSM decide to exit competitive Fortnite

Esports organization TSM has announced they’ll be releasing their competitive Fortnite roster going forward as they part ways with three players.

With the announcement that they’ll be exiting the competitive scene, TSM will say goodbye to Mack “MackWood” Aesoph, Rocco “Saf” Morales and Kerry “Ferrrnando” Salas. All three of them are new free agents, while others have made the switch to full-time streaming. MackWood and Saf both had runs at the Fortnite World Cup 2019, where they did pretty well in Duo’s. Saf would go on to finish in fourth place, taking home half of the 1.5 million dollar payout, with the other half going to his duo partner Zayt (NRG).

It’s been quite a turbulent time for the Fortnite scene in the past couple months. Earlier this year Epic Games announced they’ll be increasing the prize pool for competitive Fortnite, following criticism by the competitive scene. This means the 2021 season will have a prize pool available of 20 million dollars.

It looks like TSM exiting Fortnite falls more in line with their current strategy of looking more towards content creation surrounding Fortnite instead of competitive play. TSM commented on the decision on Twitter. “Today we’re announcing our departure from competitive Fortnite. Thanks to our players for everything you contributed to TSM during your time with the org. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.”
