As we look at the current CS:GO landscape, it’s time to dive into which 10 AWPers are the very best of the best at this moment.
There are a lot of options to choose from but there can only be a few that make it to the very top. In this ranking, the HLTV rating is not the only factor in play. Potential and exceptional achievements are also counted and valued, alongside with professional history.
1. s1mple
You can say what you want but s1mple is still holding on to that number one spot, and deservedly so. He is without a doubt one of the most well-known CS:GO players at the time, still rocking over at Natus Vincere like he has been doing for over four years. The man has an insane talent for AWPing, and the best display of this is probably the following clip.
2. ZywOo
He’s perhaps most likely to overtake s1mple at this point in time. These two are always in a battle with each other, although with plenty of mutual respect (s1mple even recently mentioned him as best AWPer himself). The French Vitality player got the deserved #1 spot in the HLTV Top 20 Players of 2020, and it most certainly makes sense when you see the things he can pull off, taking great risks but still succeeding.
3. device
Part of the current best squad in the world, Astralis, and a player they can undoubtedly not miss in their squad, device might not always bring the flashiest plays to the table. Regardless of this he still pulls of amazing things and is deserving of the third place in this ranking. Just look at how clean and calculated he manages to get an ace.
4. kennyS
A legendary AWPer and another French player on this list that is also unique in his own way, currently serving G2 Esports. He has been with the team for over four years at this point, being in the team the longest of anyone else in the line-up. He has many outstanding plays to his name in his CS:GO career but he still pulls off crazy things to this day.
5. Jame
“Jame time” – if there is a phrase he is known for, it’s this one. He’s a relatively fresh player that started off in AVANGAR and already did amazing things there, moving to Virtus.Pro at the end of 2019. In the eyes of some he’s even “the new s1mple”. Whilst that claim can be a bit farfetched, he should not be underestimated.
6. cadiaN
Recently Heroic has found themselves in the spotlight a little less but that does not take away from the fact how talented of a player cadiaN is with an AWP in his hands. He was a clear part of the reason why Heroic managed to peak as high as they did and how they are still performing so well.

7. FalleN
The talent this man has is unmistakeable. He has been in the running for a while now and has recently been given a “second chance” of sorts after his adventure with MIBR came to an end, now making the move to Team Liquid. He has always been insanely talented however, even when looking back at his glory days with SK Gaming.
8. JW
Clocking in at just about four years over at fnatic, JW is another extremely skilled player on this list. He and his team have recently managed to book an excellent result at cs_summit 7, narrowly missing the first place by losing out against Virtus.pro. The semi-final specifically was where JW really shone.

9. mantuu
A top Polish player from the UK and an outstanding AWPer in his own right that is known for his rapid-fire responses, currently under the OG line-up. His quickscopes are legendary and worth looking at, even when his team might not grab the win.
10. degster
A player in the Spirit line-up that is actually on loan from ESPADA. Also one of the players that you will see pop up when it comes to people to keep an eye on in 2021. He is young, incredibly talented and has proven that most recently in DreamHack Open January 2021 with a delightful AWP 4K.
Now you should know which AWPer to expect the most out of, especially in this new year. Let us hope for even more amazing AWP plays in 2021 and more raw talent on display. Perhaps also a shift in that number one spot? After all, s1mple cannot hold onto it forever, right? Keep your aim steady and scope ready.
