TimTheTatman becomes the latest streamer to leave Twitch for Youtube

Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar announced earlier via his official Twitter account that he would be leaving Twitch. The popular streamer released a video today confirming the move after hinting at some big changes just one day prior. In his video, Tim stated that he would now exclusively be streaming on YouTube Gaming.

With over 7 million followers on Twitch, Tim was undoubtedly one of the platform’s biggest remaining names. In recent interviews, Tim talked about his identity as a content creator and growing prevalence on YouTube. Tim’s switch comes in light of massive movement of streamers off of Twitch. For years, Twitch has been criticized as a streaming platform for countless reasons, but competitors have largely failed to replicate Twitch’s success.

YouTube has signed groundbreaking deals with some of Twitch’s former stars. Just recently, Ben “DrLupo” Lup left Twitch and similarly signed an exclusive streaming deal with YouTube. Over a year ago the former streamer of the year, DrDisrespect, suddenly and mysteriously was banned from the platform but continued creating content on YouTube. Another notable figure now primarily on YouTube include Jack “CouRage” Dunlop.

It seems that though Twitch’s troubles have not ended. DrDisrespect recently announced that he planned on filing a lawsuit against Twitch regarding his sudden ban. Also only minutes after Tim announced his switch, DrDisrespect released an ominous piece of concept art depicting his surrounded by supposedly purple snakes. Though the future of this YouTube and Twitch rivalry is unclear, YouTube has made significant moves in just the past week, and potentially more are to come.
