This is the Warzone and Cold War Season 2 roadmap – New weapons, operators and maps

Activision has revealed the roadmap for the second season of Warzone and Cold War. Let’s take a look into what we can expect going forward.

First and foremost, the new season of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is scheduled to start on February 25. Players will have quite a few things to look forward to, including new maps, new weapons, an entirely new battle pass, some new game modes in both the regular game as well as Warzone and four new operators. There’s also a bit of Zombie content to look forward to.

The second season for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will be released on February 25, somewhere around 04:00 AM to 06:00 PM. Both games will also receive scheduled updates up to two days before that date.

Zombies

The Cold War Zombies will receive a new chapter in the Dark Aether story. The Requiem agents will find themselves fighting in Russia this time around in Outbreak. You’ll be tasked with researching experiments that took place in the Ural Mountains, which features a huge playable area with new enemies and includes vehicles. More information about Outbreak is expected to release in the upcoming days.

Zombies will also get a new Field Upgrade called Frenzied Guard, which will force all enemies to target the user for a limited time, taking only armor damage and opening up more tactical decisions. There’s also a new Ammo Mod called Shatter blast, which makes bullets explosive allowing you to deal more damage to enemies.

Cold War

Weapons

Let’s take a look at the new weapons that’ll be entering the game. You won’t be able to get all of them straight off the bat, with some of them unlocking as the season progresses. Two of the weapons will be available at the start of the season however, them being the FARA 83 Assault Rifle and the new SMG LC10.

Two of the weapons that’ll become available throughout the season are melee weapons in the form of a machete and one called the ‘E-Tool’. The other two that are scheduled to appear are a crossbow called the R1 Shadowhunter, which focuses on silent killing, and the ZRG 20mm Sniper, providing a one-shot kill with a bullet to the head, chest or shoulders.

New Multiplayer modes

First up Activision will be releasing Gun Game as the season gets started, one of the oldest fan-favorite game modes which sees you cycle through multiple weapons to gather kills. It works much in the same way as in the older games, start with a pistol and end with a knife. Being finished off by a melee attack will set you back one weapon.

Two more game modes will come later in the season, one of them being a multi-team Hardpoint mode which will take place on some of the largest maps in the game. Finally we’ve got Stockpile, a 6v6 game mode that sees players collect dog tags much like Kill Confirmed, with the twist that the tags need to be deposited at a certain place on the map to count towards your team’s score.

Operators

We’ll also get one new operator as the season starts, called Naga. He’s a former warlord, trafficking weapons and drugs in his home country of Laos. The other ones released throughout the season include Maxis, who makes her first appearance as a playable character outside of Zombies, Wolf, a jungle warfare Operator, and Rivas, a guerilla fighter.

Maps

There will be four maps dropping throughout season 2, with Apocalypse releasing immediately as the season starts. Apocalypse is a 6v6 map based on jungle warfare and includes temples and small buildings. One more 6v6 map will be released later on in the season and is called Miami Strike.

Two more maps will be released throughout season 2. The first one being Golova, which is a multi-team map based on a traditional Russian village and boasts mostly close-quarter gunfights. Mansion is the final map on this list, being a 2v2 or 3v3 map, and is a recreation of a mansion in Havana, Cuba.

There are still some smaller updates to hit Cold War, such as a new scorestreak in the form of a Death Machine, two new vehicles, a completely new set of challenges and additional prestige content.

Warzone

For Warzone, Season 2 will feature more interesting areas on the map which will look to further advance the story within the game. These areas include the port of Verdansk but most of them will be added as the season progresses.

Warzone will also get two new game modes. The first one, Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme, is available at launch of the new season. It’s a respawn-based game mode where you’ll face up to 90 other players on Rebirth Island. Exfiltration will be released later on in the season. It’s a game mode where players will be fighting for control of a radio, similar to a most-wanted contract. If the radio is held by the same squad for long enough, they win the game. Otherwise, standard Battle Royale rules apply.
