These are the top 5 most-followed channels on Twitch

Twitch has become a huge source of entertainment for many. Let’s take a look at the 5 most-followed Twitch channels on the platform right now (July 2021).

5. Auronplay

Auronplay, or Raúl Álvarez Genes, is one of the biggest Spanish content creators out there. Aside from his bustling Twitch channel which features well over 9.1 million followers, he’s also a huge YouTuber with an immense platform, even becoming the third most-subscribed YouTuber in all of Spain. On YouTube he currently has over 28 million subscribers.

If anything, Auronplay doesn’t get tied down by the games he plays and he’s a huge variety streamer that isn’t afraid to try something new. He’ll play the huge games such as Grand Theft Auto V and Minecraft just as well as some smaller indie titles, and has acquired a huge audience by doing so. What’s even more interesting is that he only started his Twitch channel back in 2019, which makes his feat of getting to the fifth most-followed spot even more impressive.

4. Shroud

Michael Grzesiek, online better known as Shroud, holds the position of fourth most-followed Twitch account of the platform with 9.4 million followers. The Canadian has a particular affinity for first-person shooters and before becoming a full-time content creator on Twitch (and YouTube as well), he played CS:GO on a professional level, most notably his time on CompLexity Gaming and Cloud9.

Back in 2019 Shroud would go on to leave Twitch and signed a contract with Mixer, where he would go on to stream exclusively in an attempt from Mixer to increase their audience. As Mixer shut down over the course of 2020, Twitch stepped in as Shroud was released from his contract and brought him back to where his career initially started. Shroud became the most popular streaming CS:GO and was one of the first creators to gain popularity during the rise of the Battle Royale genre, most notably PUBG.

3. Rubius

Rubén Doblas Gundersen is a Spanish-Norwegian streamer who first gained his popularity through his YouTube channel before also taking to Twitch. His Twitch channel currently sits in third place on the most-followed list, at 9.5 million followers, while his YouTube channel is also insanely popular and boasts over 40 million subscribers.

Rubius became known for a lot of things over the years, including some world records he’s broken. One of these is sending out the most retweeted tweet back in 2016 which was retweeted over 1.3 million times. While streaming Fortnite, Rubius was also able to break the record for most concurrent viewers, which was previously held by Ninja and Drake, by gathering 1.1 million people.

2. Tfue

Tfue, also known as Turner Tenney, currently sits in second place of the most-followed accounts on the platform. Over the years Tfue has garnered 10.5 million followers on his Twitch channel. Tenney mostly became known as one of the best Fortnite players in the world and would go on to join FaZe Clan. His YouTube channel currently also boasts over 12 million followers.

Back in 2019 Tfue made the news after he decided to file a lawsuit against FaZe Clan, where he alleged that the organization pressured him into illegal gambling and underaged drinking, while also taking away from his tournament winnings as a professional esports player and branded videos. Both parties eventually settled their disputes outside of court.

1. Ninja

It’s no surprise at all that the number one most-followed spot on Twitch is still held by Tyler Blevins, better known as Ninja. With 16.8 million followers he’s firmly in the lead by a significant margin. Ninja also became known as the face of Fortnite when the game hit the mainstream and he helped popularize gaming in the mainstream, becoming sort of a spokesperson for the gaming community.

Over the years Ninja has done many things, starting out his career as a professional player in Halo 3. His viewership and Twitch channel unsurprisingly exploded when the battle royale genre hit, first playing PUBG and then transitioning to Fortnite, where he rode the wave to become the most-followed channel on Twitch.

Ninja was also the first one to make the move to Mixer, with Microsoft offering him a huge contract for exclusive streams to their platform. When Mixer shut down, much like what happened with Shroud, Ninja made the return to Twitch, where he is currently still streaming. Most recently he’s tried his hand at League of Legends, as he’s exploring new stuff.
