These are the abilities of Akshan (and they’re ridiculously broken)

The latest AD Carry, Akshan, just had his abilities revealed, and they look very overpowered.

The latest Champion to be released during the Ruination story arc will find a home in the bottom lane as the game’s newest ADC. Set to be released in patch 11.15, Riot Games released an early look into Akshan’s abilities. The bottom laner’s kit is brimming with powerful, unique abilities bound to shake-up the meta. On the surface, Akshan has the potential to be among the strongest ADC, but here’s how his abilities actually stack up.

Passive – Dirty Fighting

Akshan features a three hit passive that stacks based off of auto-attacks and certain abilities. Every third hit, Akshan deals bonus physical damage. Should the third hit target be a Champion, Akshan is also granted a shield.

Auto attacks also give an additional, immediate second shot that deals lesser physical damage. This secondary shot is optional and can be canceled, which in turn gives a burst of movement speed.

Q – Avengerang

Similar to Gnar’s Q, Akshan’s Q is a boomerang dealing physical damage. The range of the boomerang extends every time it makes contact with an enemy, and deals damage twice as it returns to Akshan. The Avengerang also reveals enemies hits, making it a useful tool to check in spots without vision. If the Avengerang makes contact with enemies, it also applies stacks to the Dirty Fighting passive, making it an excellent trading and chunk damage tool.

W – Going Rogue

Akshan’s W is perhaps his most unique and powerful ability in his kit, including the ultimate. Essentially, the ability can provide a ‘revive’ for allies and drastically decrease spawn timers. When an enemy kills an ally Champion, they are marked as a Scoundrel. Should Akshan kill someone marked as a ‘Scoundrel’, all allies killed by that Champion are resurrected at their base.

The active ability allows Akshan to be camouflaged and see trails to enemy champions marked as Scoundrels. As Akshan moves toward Scoundrels, he gains mana regeneration and movement speed.

E – Heroic Swing

Akshan’s primary weapon doubles a grappling hook utilized through his E. The grappling hook attaches to nearby terrain. When recasted, Akshan swings and deals damage to the nearest enemy. A third recast allows Akshan to leap off the hook he is attached to and fire one last shot.

R – Comeuppance

Akshan’s ultimate is most comparable to Caitlyn’s R, in the sense that it locks onto an enemy Champion. After a short pause, Akshan begins ‘machine-gun’ firing any stored bullets onto a selected target. The damage is physical damage based on missing health to the first target, which can be a Champion, monster, minion, or structure.

Akshan can also use his E, Heroic Swing, which channeling or firing his ultimate. This makes him an incredibly mobile and deadly threat that can close gaps and finish off low-health enemies.

Final thoughts – will Akshan will be overpowered?

Akshan has a great deal of mobility, sustain, and damage dealing abilities. Given that most ADCs fit into the ‘glass canon’ role, Akshan will almost certainly stand out. Akshan’s E potentially will raise his priority in professional play alone, as it gives the Champion incredible agency over the course of a game. Akshan will be unique, but only time will tell if he can live up to this highly anticipated kit.
