The new Warzone map is finally here

Players across all platforms will now be able to drop in on the new CoD Warzone map, ’84 Verdansk.

Though Call of Duty Warzone’s season 2 apocalypse event culminated in the nuclear destruction of Verdansk, players did not have to wait long to drop back into Verdansk, albeit in a different time period. The new 1984 iteration of Verdansk is a new twist on the fan favorite battle royale map.

Players present for the live switch to this new map were greeted by an impressive cinematic to introduce Verdansk ’84. In an unexpected turn of events, players were also able to press the button that launched the nukes to Verdansk from Rebirth Island before dropping into their first match.

Though with some similar areas to the ‘original’ Verdansk map, such as the placement of the Airport and Stadium, each zone is a fresh reflavoring of the landscape. Other parts of the map have been completely reworked, such as the Karst Salt Mines and the new Downtown area. Many areas of Verdansk ‘84 are based on maps from Black Op’s past games, such as the Summit area that replaced the old Dam.

Even the infamous Gulag was changed, which is now based off the street part of the Standoff map. This new, isolated arena gives teams a new challenge while also fixing the rooftop area notorious for camping and glitch explorations.

The new map has so far been met with a positive reception, revitalizing Warzone with a retro breath of fresh air. Verdansk ‘84 is now available on all platforms.
