Both the LEC and LCS finally return to our screens, so it’s time to take a quick look at all teams that might be the most important contenders this year. Will G2 Esports and Fnatic be knocked off their throne in Europe and can Cloud9 keep up its form?
LEC
Not that much has changed in the top flight of the LEC. G2 Esports will go through yet another roleswap of Rasmus “Caps” Winther and Luka “Perkz” Perkovic but looks as strong as ever. Fnatic also kept its team together and will be out for revenge for their second place in the Spring Split.

It’s when we look to some of the other teams when things get more interesting. MAD Lions entered the scene after their rebrand in a major way, now keeping their roster and doubling down on the talent that brought them a third place finish in Spring. The same is true for Origen, who didn’t shuffle things around too much.
Misfits Gaming might also be one of these teams who’ll make life more difficult for the other teams. They made playoffs in Spring, but lost to Rogue (who’ll also be looking to improve this season with the same roster) in the first round. With the addition of experienced bot laner Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup, they might have gotten the spark they needed to push it to the next level.
LCS
As LCS starts up again we mostly look to three teams when it comes to the contenders for the Summer Split title. The first one in that list is Cloud9, who had a great split last time around. They didn’t get tested on an international stage however, but it’ll be interesting to see how they perform as they kept all of their players around.

The biggest story this off-season was TSM, with Peter “Doublelift” Peng returning to the organization. With another new acquisition in jungler Mingyi “Spica” Lu, it’s difficult to assess the strength of the roster and whether they’ll be able to compete with the likes of Cloud9. To close out this list, Team Liquid’s roster also has a lot of potential if they get their act together.
The other teams also seem to lie closer together than ever, with teams such as 100 Thieves and Flyquest having improved throughout the last split. Dignitas however is one of those teams that’s harder to put your finger on, as they brought in a new top laner and jungler in Omran “V1per” Shoura and Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett respectively.
