The best audio settings for Call of Duty

During a match in Call of Duty there are plenty of things happening at the same time. Shots ringing out, explosions somewhere nearby and then you add the voice comms into the mix. With all the noise around you, it can easily happen that you overhear the actual most important thing: Your opponents.

That is why it is important to customize your audio settings so you will not miss the footsteps of the opposition. Without having to worry about being caught unaware it is much easier to focus on your firefights.

To start with you should set the music volume to zero as it offers you no information during gameplay. Dialogue volume can also be set down to 60%. Effect volume does occassionally have audio cues for you, so you should set it to 70 or 80.

You also get the option to disable Juggernaut music. Another option you can find here are the hit sounds, where you can pick between Classic, Off or the newer Modern Warfare Sounds. These options can all be set to personal preference.

How should it setup my sound?

While you cannot finetune the volume of single sounds, you can pick between different audio mixes. The mixes determine which frequencies will be prioritised in your headphones and which ones will move towards the background.

Home Cinema on the left | Boost High on the right

Of course you should optimize for the sound of footsteps in the mixes. Usually the “Boost High” setting will be optimal, but sometimes the “Home Theater” can also work surprisingly well. Make sure to test out which setting harmonizes the best with your setup.

Even the best sound settings won’t save you if you are distracted by other sounds, so make sure that you turn off everything else if you really want to go for the win or the best K/D-ratios.

Another thing to keep in mind are the voice comms with your teammates in Warzone. So make sure you can still hear them clearly over the sounds from Call of Duty. A good call out by a teammate is usually worth more than any sound cue from the game.
