The 5 Best Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Classes

In need of some help when it comes to picking out the best setup to use when playing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War? Let’s take a look at 5 of the best ones.

Across casual matchmaking, League play, and the Call of Duty League stage there exists an incredible variance regarding the best weapons and loadouts. It can be tricky to determine just what suits your playstyle the best but below are some classic combinations that will help clean up your play.

AK47 – Sheer strength

  • Optic sight
  • 20” Liberator
  • Spetsnaz Grip
  • GRU Elastic Wrap
  • 50 Rnd Fast Mag

One of the most recognizable assault rifles in the franchise, this typically inconsistent rifle is better and more refined than ever in Cold War. Due to its prevalence and sheer strength in regular play, the Call of Duty League reached an agreement to outright ban the weapon from any professional games.

The AK47 offers the same incredible range found in many assault rifles but amplifies the firepower. The Spetsnaz grip, GRU elastic wrap, and 20” Liberator barrel all work in extending the high damage of the weapon to an even further range. With additional magazine capacity and reload quickness provided by the 40 Rnd Speed Mag, this primary weapon is perfect for mowing down enemies on objectives from a distance.
Added with a high burst damage secondary like the Hauer 77, this build is all about maximizing damage.

XM4 – All about versatility

  • Field Agent Grip
  • 50 Rnd Fast Mag
  • Airborne Elastic Wrap

The XM4 is an incredibly versatile assault rifle with slightly less range than the likes of the AK47 but is far easier to execute on than others. This rifle synergizes well with the field agent grip, airborne elastic wrap, and the agency suppressor. This build is all about utilizing the gun’s pre-existing stats, including its low recoil and relatively high damage.

The buffer tube increases is the main driver of this weapon’s versatility as it increases the rifle’s sprint to fire time and makes it a better mid to close range gun. This loadout is able to win quick gunfights and is overall a great pick for flex players who either want to support their team from a distance or get involved on the objective.

MP5 – Speed & Quickness

  • Microflex LED
  • Speed Tape
  • Airborne Elastic Wrap
  • 9.5” Reinforced Heavy Barrel

A mainstay submachine gun in the Call of Duty franchise, this primary weapon makes the list as one of the best weapons in the game. The most optimal way to play around the MP5 is to capitalize on the pre-existing mobility of the weapon. Among the other SMGs, the MP5 has one of the fastest fire rates while still dealing decent damage per shot.

Speed tape and the collapsed stock are integral attachments to complete this build as they reduce the turnaround time from sprinting to firing substantially. Quick reload speed, quick movements, and precision fire is what defines this build. With a strong secondary, this build will have you zooming around the map as a close-range menace.

Milano 821 – Ol’ reliable

  • 10.1” Reinforced heavy barrel
  • Steady Aim Laser
  • Field Agent Grip

On par with the MP5 as far as submachine guns go, this weapon has stood the test of time and lasted several waves of nerfs from Treyarch. Overall, this is one of the most well balanced SMGs in the game as it yields high damage but at a lower rate of fire. Similar to other weapons with recoil issues, the airborne elastic wrap and field agent grip make the weapon fair more mobile as it works to stabilize the weapons otherwise inconsistent spray.

Once again, similar to the MP5 this build works best in tight corners and close quarters on maps like Moscow, Armada, and Cartel. Itemized with the right attachments however, you may see more success on the uzi-like weapon though than any other SMG in Cold War.

Pelington 703 – Banking on distance

  • Stabilizer .308
  • 25 Reinforced Heavy barrel
  • Bipod
  • 7 Rnd Speed Mag
  • Airborn Elastic Wrap

The lone sniper on this list, the Pelington has remained the most popular sniper rifle in the game and for good reason. The Pelington maintains the one shot kill standard that any good sniper rifle has when landed on the body or head. This weapon is perfect for quickscopers looking to have high game impact consistently.

Airborne elastic wrap and the bipod attachment enhance the weapon’s abilities as they reduce time to aim down sights and drastically reduce recoil rates. This combination keeps the weapon mobile while dealing classic damage.
