Tfue’s lawsuit against FaZe Clan dismissed

The lawsuit made by popular Fortnite player and streamer Turner “Tfue” Tenney against his former team FaZe Clan has been dismissed by a judge in a Californian court. FaZe Clan is still looking to continue their own lawsuit against Tfue.

Tfue submitted his lawsuit against longstanding esports organization FaZe Clan way back in May 2019. In the lawsuit Tfue states he believes the contract he had in place with FaZe was too oppressive and stood in the way of him acquiring new sponsorship and brand deals. He also stated that FaZe clan took away most of his tournament winnings from competing in Fortnite. FaZe in return submitted their own lawsuit against Tfue for breach of contract, disputing the claims he made about the organization taking away most of his income and winnings.

Now the lawsuit by Tfue has been dismissed by a judge in California where the lawsuit was filed, as Tfue believed FaZe violated the Talent Agencies Act, but that doesn’t mean it’s all over for the streamer. FaZe responded to the dismissal saying they were very happy with the outcome, but that they’ll still pursue their own lawsuit they’ve made against Tfue for breach of contract and false claims. Their lawsuit is on course to go to trial in New York October 5th.

Tfue’s lawyer is still confident in his chances. “Given the court’s favorable findings on the rulings on summary judgement and the upcoming hearing in front of the Labor Commission concerning illegal procurement, there was no need to have the proceeding in state court. All issues will be resolved in the trial in New York and in front of the California Labor Commission. My client is very confident and looks forward adjudicating these issues.”
