Team Liquid reach Worlds groups, MAD Lions barely reach elimination round

The group stage of the League of Legends Worlds 2020 play-in stage has concluded. Team Liquid will move on straight to the group stage after topping group A. Yesterday PSG Talon was already able to secure a spot in groups by finishing on top of group B.

Team Liquid had to finish a tiebreaker match after losing to INTZ earlier today, leading them to have the same record as Legacy Esports (3-1). In the tiebreaker Team Liquid showed complete dominance through insane play by jungler Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen on Graves and bot laner Edward “Tactical” Ra on Caitlyn. The game only took a little more than 20 minutes to finish.

With PSG Talon and Team Liquid moving on, the play-in stage moves to playoffs. Tomorrow the elimination matches will be played, where Rainbow7 takes on LGD and SuperMassive Esports will play MAD Lions. The latter was just able to scrape by in a tiebreaker match against INTZ, keeping their dream of reaching groups alive.

The winners of the elimination matches will move on to the qualification round on september 30, with the winner eventually securing a spot in groups after a best-of-five series. The winner of Rainbow7 versus LGD will play Legacy Esports, while the winner of SuperMassive Esports versus MAD Lions will have to take on Unicorns of Love.
