Team Liquid beats Cloud9 and move on to VCT Semi-Finals

The VCT Champions playoffs kicked off today as Team Liquid defeated Cloud9 while Acend beat out Team Secret. The upper portion of the bracket will see Team Liquid and Acend clash in an EMEA battle to determine one half of the finals.

Team Liquid dismantles Cloud9, sends NA packing

Though the last remaining North American team, Cloud9, managed to put up a fight, Team Liquid finished the series with a resounding 2-0. Back on his traditional duelist role, ScreaM took control over the game on Reina throughout both maps. The Belgian FPS player topfragged with 50 total kills in the series. Alongside this, ScreaM finished with 203 ADR, a 76.5% KAST, and 53% FBSR.

Cloud9’s main Jett player, Leaf, put up an incredible performance, Team Liquid snapped C9’s hopes of extending the series to game three. With Cloud9 eliminated, all three North American teams have been sent home. With two being eliminated in the groups stage, Cloud9 made it the furthest.

Acend vs Team Liquid – Who will prevail?

The upper bracket semi-finals will see a domestic match up between Team Liquid and Acend. These two teams have actually only met once before in a non-VCT related tournament wherein Team Liquid won a 3-1 series.

Both teams have since renovated their rosters and competed internationally several times. Team Liquid have since been crowned domestic champions prior to Champions and have appeared as one of the strongest teams entering the final tournament of the year. Cruising past groups and now completely obliterating NA’s last hope, there seems to be little standing in TL’s way.
