Sony’s PlayStation division is allegedly planning a new subscription service codenamed Spartacus. This new system is most analogous to Xbox’s Game Pass and will compete with the Mircrosoft licensed product. The subscription is set to merge the offerings of PlayStation Now and PS Plus into a single bundle.
The PlayStation service will allow players to pay a monthly fee for access to a variety of games. Ranging of classics to modern games, these games will cover the wide history of PlayStation Platforms. This subscription service will likely be available on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Though unconfirmed at the moment, the Spartacus project is expected to release sometime in Spring. The service will completely replace PlayStation plus and PlayStation Now completely on the PS store.
The price of the subscription service is also currently unknown, though will likely compete with the Game Pass price which is currently $15 per month. Though on big asset of Game Pass is access to console exclusive titles, sources have stated that it is unlikely that Sony will immediately include their large titles the way Game Pass does.
Spartacus is expected to have multiple tiers similar to Game Pass, though what is included in the higher tiers is only up to speculation at the moment. PlayStation players can look forward to revisiting titles from past PlayStation consoles.
