Shaquille O’Neal donates over 1000 PS5 and Nintendo Switch consoles to kids over Christmas

The former NBA player and current NBA analyst has donated over 1000 PS5 consoles and 1000 Nintendo Switch consoles, which he says he obtained from a “friend from Nintendo”. He revealed this during the GaryVee Audio Experience podcast, talking about wanting to help children who wake up on Christmas morning without a gift.

It’s something he had to go through as well. “My family didn’t have a lot but they taught me the value of giving back to those in need,” Shaq said. “15 to 20 million children wake up on Christmas Day and do not receive one gift. I felt that one time and I don’t ever want a kid to feel like that.”

In any case it’s quite a generous donation, especially as many people haven’t been able to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 console as well. Sony has said they’re looking into solving the shortage of the console in 2022, however. It’s not the first time Shaq has done something like this, as he’s been involved in a lot of charity work in the past and has helped out numerous underprivileged children through the Shaquille O’Neal Foundation.
