Rumor: MAD Lions accuse G2 of poaching players before Worlds, LEC owners vote to reexamine rules

It was reported earlier today that G2 Esports have been accused of tampering and poaching by the LEC Champions, MAD Lions. Sources that reached out to Dot Esports stated that team owners voted 8-2 to reevaluate the LEC’s global rules following this potential breach.

Tampering and poaching are defined by the global rule set as two different scenarios. The first is player to player tampering while the second is if a player or coach solicits employment to a player of another team. These two offenses carries a ban that can extend anywhere from three to fifteen months depending on the case.

After failing to secure at spot at Worlds 2021, G2 Esports have looked to rebuild their team and reports have come out about potential new lineups. G2 began their long offseason by extending the contract of their midlaner, Rasmus “Caps” Winther, but have allegedly looked to change up their top and bottom lanes. G2 have reportedly reached out to several ERL teams for tryouts, including MAD Lions’ ERL botlaner Victor “Flakked” Lirola.

G2 have also shown interest in MAD Lions’ starting botlaner, Matyas “Carzzy” Orsag. Of course, Carzzy is representing the LEC’s first seed at Worlds 2021. While MAD Lions have secured extensions on several players, though have yet to sign Carzzy. G2 has a long record of poaching players across several different esports titles. Luka “Perkz” Perkovic reportedly aided in the tampering of Zven and Mithy while they were on Origen, eventually joining G2 Esports.

G2 have yet to release a statement on the situation and Riot Games nor the LEC have acknowledged the situation.
