Rumor: dev1ce may return to Astralis after short stint on NIP

Sources have reported that Dev1ce may look to re-join Astralis for the upcoming year. Signing with Ninjas In Pyjamas in early April, Dev1ce left the organization where he had achieved virtually every accomplishment in his career to build a new legacy with the Swedish squad.

Ninjas In Pyjamas had a rough 2021, and finding wins proved difficult for the team. Throughout the entire year NIP found only one trophy at IEM Fall. The Danish AWPer struggled along with his team adjusting to the new roster and dynamic. On some of the biggest stages of them all, such as the PGL Major, NIP often fell flat.

During the final competition of the year, Dev1ce was subbed out of the starting roster due to health issues. Though adding former Astralis substitute Es3tag, the NIP roster could not save its 2021. In a Twitter statement, Dev1ce stated that he struggled with mental health issues and that NIP as well as his teammates were supportive throughout the season.

Dev1ce originally signed a three-year deal with Ninjas In Pyjamas for one-million dollars. It now seems that only one year into the contract, Dev1ce may be leaving to re-join Astralis. Dev1ce’s old squad has struggled since his departure as the roster has swapped around multiple times though have yet to yield many positive results. With one of the team’s star fraggers back on the squad, Astralis may be able to find much better results in 2022.
