Riot teases new Agent coming with Patch 3.0

In his most recent State of the Agents, Riot Character Producer John “MEMEMEMEME“ Goscicki announced VALORANT would be getting a new agent with Patch 3.0.

Goscicki opened his developer blog with a little update on the team’s latest Viper buff, and the plans of future balances to Agents. “We are looking into releasing updates to Breach, Skye, Yoru, and Astra.

While the intended changes should buff the first three Agents, it is Riot’s plan to nerf Astra as “some of her play patterns are too oppressive in coordinated play”.

MEMEMEMEME continued by announcing a new Agent coming with Patch 3.0. The last Act only saw the addition of the map Breeze and not an Agent. “This is because we’re prioritizing quality over speed,” Goscicki explained.

He went into a little detail and said: “This time around we are throwing in some abilities that should feel familiar to folks who’ve played traditional FPS games their whole live This is an Agent whose utility can create moments where you must rely on your gunplay.”

“Our hope is that the @*&#*&!(&H! #$ &*! *%# &@! *U&^A! “@*!!*(@@*&^” (@&* ^@!^& &@! *&# &^C#^ANG W*^@ $O )(E&# *N@! S!T#$.”

Twitter user LolStank had an interesting theory about the way the announcement was phrased.

“My guess is that the agent has the ability to block the opposing agents from using their abilities, hence why they are saying it will make you focus on strictly gun play,” he said.

There might be a lot of merit to this train of thought as “traditional FPS games”, as worded in the blog, never relied on anything more than gunplay.
