Riot launches Korean LoL casting show

Riot Games has announced a Reality TV show for League of Legends: LoL – THE NEXT. Similar to other casting shows like The Voice 100 players will try the earn themselves a breakthrough in League of Legends.

Riot’s Korean division is producing a brand new casting show in which the best amateurs in League of Legends compete against each other. The grand prize at the end consists not only of 50 million Korean Won (roughly $40,000) but also a “special opportunity” that might become their stepping stone to a professional career.

The show starts August 2

LoL – THE NEXT is set to launch on August 2 and will be streamed on the official channels of the LCK (Youtube, Twitch). You can find a first trailer here:

All 100 participants are players at Diamond and above in LoL. In order to make it to the final 10 they will have to pass multiple tests to outshine their competition.

A “special opportunity”

Once the show is down to the final 10 they will be split into two teams which will be trained further by four Korean legends in turn. Lee “Wolf” Jae-wan and Heo “PawN” Won-seok will be in charge of one team, while Kim “PraY” Jong-in and Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan will whip the other into shape.

The grand finale of the show will take place in LCK’s very own LoL-Park as a match between the two hopeful teams.
