Riot Korea talks candidates for 2021 franchised LCK

Riot Games Korea has revealed a list of possible candidates for the upcoming franchised LCK that is projected to start in 2021. We see a lot of familiar names on the list excluding SeolHaeOne Prince, who has been replaced with hyFreshBlade.

There was a lot of interest regarding the LCK franchise spots. Originally, 23 organizations applied to participate but that list has to be narrowed down to 10 teams. Riot Korea has now made a preferred selection out of all participants, which consists mostly of teams that are currently competing. Aside from the initial selection, there’s also a waiting list that consists of five teams. THese teams are SeolHaeOne Prince, Element Mystic, Jin Air Greenwings, Awesome Spear and OZ Gaming.

The ball is now in the court of the teams that are on the list of preferred teams and the waiting list. They’ll have to enter negotiations with Riot Korea to discuss terms if they want to join the new franchised LCK. If one of the teams in Riot Korea’s preferred list fails to reach an agreement, they’ll be passed up for one of the teams on the waiting list. We’ll still have to wait a while to see the completed list of participating teams, as that decision will be made somewhere in October.

Currently the 2020 LCK Playoffs are being played, with the Grand Final being between DAMWON Gaming and DragonX.
