Riot is buffing Yoru – This is what they’re changing

Yoru has been a part of VALORANT for almost a year now, however his status in competitive play is all but irrelevant. Out of all duelists, and the general Agent roster as a whole, Yoru has consistently ranked at the bottom. Though Riot Games have tried to make this duelist more competitively viable in the past, his next update is by far the most ambitious. Here’s everything you need to know about Yoru’s update.

Yoru’s new kit – The master of deception

The developer update surrounding Yoru’s buff described his new design philosophy as an intent to make Yoru “a master of deception through an increased output of disinformation from round to round.” This involves several major changes to Your’s kit.

The first change, and perhaps most drastic, is his Fakeout ability. Previously, this ability would send footsteps into an intended direction, meant to throw off opponents. The newly renovated version of Fakeout now sends an entire copy of Yoru. Upon being shot, the fake version of the duelist will explode and debuff enemies. It has not been specified what this debuff will exactly be.

Gatecrash has often been a mechanic that allows Yoru to close distances and get the flank on opponents quickly. Now, it will be a means of distraction and continued speed. Gatecrash is now 20% faster and less audible to enemies at a distance. Additionally, Yoru players can now signal a fake teleport, triggering the same sound effect and animation of a ‘real’ teleport.

The VALORANT devs stated that they will monitor Yoru’s state with the release of this new update, though are confident that these changes will ‘unlock’ the Agent’s potential.
