The reason for the ban dates back to a YouTube video that was released a few days ago, which has Canyon playing a normal game of League of Legends. However, he was playing the match on the account of someone else, which is against the rules that Riot Games has set out. DWG KIA went on to delete the video.
The content manager of the team apologized for the situation in a statement. According to him a misunderstanding lies at the base of the situation as he thought that normal games didn’t fall under the rules set by Riot Games. “We were mistaken in our understanding that only Ranked Games fall under the jurisdiction of account sharing. […] The decision was made under my instruction to play League of Legends normal games using a League of Legends account owned by one of our content team instead.”

In the end, Canyon was fined for ₩300,000, which roughly translates to 250 dollars, and his League of Legends account on the Korean server will be restricted for about 30 days. This obviously doesn’t really affect the player, who is currently in Iceland for Worlds 2021. DWG KIA themselves were also fined.
