Riot Games disables Chemtech Drake after negative feedback

The most recent League of Legends offseason broguht several significant changes to the game, though chef among the alterations was the addition of the Hextech and Chemtech Drakes. Players quickly took issue with the Chemtech Drake, both the passive, Dragon Soul ability, and terrain effect. Only two week after its release on live servers, the Drake has been temporarily removed.

Riot Games has not given an indication as to when players could see a return of the controversial dragon. The developers used feedback from both social media and in-game surveys to ultimate make their decision to pull the game feature. In statement regarding the removal, Riot Games explained their plans for the Drake’s future.

“While the Chemtech Drake and its corresponding systems are disabled, we’ll be iterating on design changes to solve the issues with the current versions, while maintaining the spirit of what we were originally trying to achieve,” Riot developers made it clear that the team only seeks to refine the new Drake and not completely remove it from the game.

The developers warned that in order to do the new drake justice, the updates may take some time. While we may have only seen the Chemtech Drake in competitive for a short time, audiences may have to wait several months before the re-release.
