Riot Games CEO being investigated due to gender discrimination lawsuit

According to his former executive assistant, Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent propositioned her and had her fired after reporting him to human resources.

Riot Games responded to the lawsuit by starting an internal investigation into the allegations. The lawsuit itself deals with gender discrimination and wrongful termination. It’s not the first time Riot Games has come under fire or has been accused of gender discrimination, as news outlet Kotaku posted a journalistic report on the treatment of women following an investigation within the company.

Riot Games decided to outsource the internal investigation to a law firm outside of the company, with the purpose of investigating the claims made against CEO Nicolo Laurent. Laurent has been with Riot for over 10 years now, taking on the position as CEO back in 2017. Riot hasn’t made a statement on the allegations against Laurent but has come out publicly to say there’s “no case of wrongful termination” and that the former employee’s time at the company is “well-documented”. CEO Nicolo Laurent will be cooperating as he’s being investigated.

In recent years Riot Games has made efforts to better their work environment, drawing up an ‘internal diversity and inclusion initiative’ back in 2018 to tackle sexual discrimination. They also hired a new Human Resources Officer and a Chief Diversity Officer in response to the complaints they received.
