Riot Games are looking to upgrade Xin Zhao

One of the most overlooked champions in the current meta might get a serious upgrade to both his numbers and his kit soon.

The gameplay designer for League of Legends, Mark “Scruffy” Yetter, gave an update regarding possible changes to Xin Zhao on his twitter page, acknowledging he’s not that good in the current meta. “Xin Zhao has been struggling a bit both from a power and satisfaction standpoint. One of our SR designers has been working on a nice little upgrade for him. Best part is the new W into E combo.”

With the changes Riot want to highlight Xin Zhao’s unique ranged gameplay, offer him more off-builds and variability and give him an approximate 2% buff in the jungle. His passive would see base heal reduced but AP% increased, while his Q would see (mostly) early game bonus physical damage lowered.

It seems like the biggest update to Xin Zhao will come on his W, with an increased mana cost as a trade-off for more range, more bonus damage based on critical strike chance, and decreased cooldown at higher levels. The hitbox will also be updated and using his W will ‘Challenge’ enemy champions and grants vision for three seconds. This will work together with his E, giving more range on enemies he Challenged. Finally, his Ultimate will see an AP% buff and extended duration.
