With some big organisations stepping away from the Rainbow Six scene in the past year, Ubisoft wants to put the Canada Division and the US Division back together in one North American League. What does this mean for the players? And can the organisations actually cover the costs involved in this merger?
The US Division of the North American League is planned to have a LAN-League, where the teams will be located in a safe bubble. With the merging of both North American regions, this also means the Canadian teams need to have the budget and willingness to move the United States of America. The coach of Nordik Esports, a Canada Division team, has answered some questions on twitter regarding them possibly having to move. He says they have to answer within two weeks if they can move, and actually do so in less than two months.
I can answer those (part of CAD) but dont know what is and isnt public thanks to the super vague announcement post above
I can say we are forced to have an answer if we can move in less then 2 weeks, and actually move cross country in less then 2 months. Really fun!!!!

On the move
If the teams are unable to move, they will most likely be dropped and moved back to Challenger League. Important to note is that the Challenger Leagues of both separate regions have now also been merged into one, meaning the Canadian teams will possibly face stronger opposition to climb to a higher level. A quite worrisome prospect for players ,as there aren’t as big organisations in Canada, but also because there might be more caution to invest with such big changes coming without a notice beforehand.
It remains to be seen which, if any, Canadian teams will migrate and play at the highest level of North America, and how they will cope with the new environment.
What do you think of these changes? Will it improve the NA region as a whole or would it have been better for the Canadians to develop regionally themselves? Join the discussion on Social Media or our Discord!
