PS5 Reveal: Release date, games, price – everything you need to know

On June 11 the PlayStation 5 was officially unveiled. Sony showed off the new design and further details for the console. We’ve got you covered for all the key information:
When will the PlayStation 5 be released?

Sony has not yet announced a fixed date for release. The only information so far is that it will be in time for the Christmas season 2020. That does not necessarily mean we have to wait until December for the PS5 as release might already be in November or even October.

Design

The event also unveiled the look of the console itself after we already knew how the new controller will look like. Sony also showed off the accessories for the PS5 like the headset and others.

With a modern and futuristic design the PS5 stayed true to their slogan “The Future of Gaming”. However some fans dislike the dual color scheme and prefer a purely black console.

How much will the PS5 cost?

One of the most important aspects of the PlayStation 5 still remains under wraps: The price. Although Sony has not announced anything in this regard the internet is ripe with “leaks” and speculation that put the price in a range between $500 and $600. We will keep you updated once Sony officially announces the price.

More than a console

Besides the regular PS5 Sony will also launch a “Digital Edition” at the same time. The “Digital Edition” will have the same specifications but lack a disc drive making it slimmer and also less expensive. However wIthout a disc drive you will be unable to use the 4k blu ray features of the regular PS5.

Games for the PS5

Besides the console reveal the trailers for the new games on PS5 were the highlight of the reveal event. 25 games were announced among them severeal AAA blockbusters like Horizon Forbidden West, which takes place in a postapocalyptic America.
