Pokémon reveals plans for Pokémon Day 2022 – Will we get something new?

In a recent blog post The Pokémon Company says they’ll be doing multiple game announcements and releases in the week leading up to Pokémon Day, which takes place on February 27. The schedule itself features news about games such as Pokémon GO, Pokémon UNITE, Pokémon Sword and Shield and more. According to the schedule, we got an update on Sword and Shield today, releasing Max Raid battle events featuring Kanto Starters.

Schedule

  • Feb. 21 – Pokémon Masters EX (Announcement out)
  • Feb. 22 – Pokémon Sword and Shield (Announcement out)
  • Feb. 23 – Pokémon Café Remix
  • Feb. 24 – Pokémon UNITE
  • Feb. 25 – P25 Music
  • Feb. 26 – Pokémon GO
  • Feb. 27 – Pokémon Day

What about generation 9?

It’s currently unclear if there’ll be an announcement on generation 9 or not, which shouldn’t be considered weird, as they’re likely keeping that for a bigger announcement. On the other hand, there hasn’t been a word on the most recent Pokémon Games to appear, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Legends: Arceus. It’s unlikely that those games won’t be getting any love at all.

When it comes to Pokémon Day itself, The Pokémon Company spoke of a ‘special event’, but remains vague on what exactly it entails. While leakers have speculated about DLC and the possibility of a first glimpse in to generation 9, we’ll have to wait and see what happens on February 27.
