PlayStation 5 only available online on Release Day

On November 19 Sony will launch their long awaited PlayStation 5. However due to the ongoing pandemic, Sony has decided to only sell the console online and not in stores.

Release days of consoles are usually quite the event with plenty of people fighting for their chance to get their hands on the next generation in stores.

To avoid such a scenario in times of the pandemic Sony has decided to limit sales on release day to online shopping.
In an official blogpost Sony said:
“In the interest of keeping our gamers, retailers, and staff safe amidst COVID-19, today we are confirming that all day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners.”

If you pre-ordered the console and chose to pick up your order in stores you will still be able to do so, but Sony urged customers to follow their retailer’s safety protocols and confirm the details with them.
