CS:GO – PGL announces Stockholm Major 2021

PGL just announced the next CS:GO Major in Stockholm. After a two year hiatus the biggest Counter-Strike tournament is back.

After Valve initially hoped to hold a 2020 Major in Brazil the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has led to the cancellation of the Rio Major. CS:GO’s best will instead converge in Stockholm this year.

Live Audience & more planned

Featuring the recordbreaking prize pool of $2 million US-Dollar the Major will take place in Ericsson Globe, Stockholm, from October 23rd to November 7th. There are even plans for a live audience if the status of the pandemic will allow for it. PGL also promised to stream the Major in 4k and 60 FPS for audiences worldwide.

Silviu Stroie, PGL’s CEO, had the following to say: “We have timeless memories with our past Counter-Strike shows, and, honestly, we owe a lot to this game, as players and as a company. We believe that this community deserves the best product this franchise has ever seen. Our goal is to celebrate the game in the best way possible, and we will work hard for this”

Return of the Regional Major Ranking

In the accompanying post on the official CS:GO blog Valve also announced the return the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) Events to determine the participants for the Stockholm Major. The 2021 RMR events will start out online and have at least one offline tournament per region prior to the major.

Further details will be announced at a later stage. We will of course keep you updated on any new developments
