PGL announces next CS:GO Major is to be played in Antwerp

The Major is set to be played in the Sportpaleis in Antwerp in the middle of May, with the exact dates being shared later on. To facilitate the event PGL will be working together with META and the city of Antwerp. The earlier Major, the PGL Major Stockholm 2021, was a roaring success and it seems fans are hyped to welcome back offline CS:GO action ever since the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the scene in a big way.

The CEO of PGL, Silviu Stroie, announced that he was excited for the upcoming event to be played out in Antwerp. “We are glad to have the opportunity to bring back the fans and players together for another CS:GO Major. Belgium has an impressive Counter-Strike fanbase, and many legendary players were born in this country. We are ready to offer an incredible experience for the fans inside the arena and the passionate viewers at home.”

Working together with PGL and bringing the Major to Antwerp was a logical step, said META co-ceo Steven Leunens. “We have known PGL for more than 8 years, considering our global esports network. We also organize the largest Benelux esports competitions and have also worked for international esports teams. We know that the Antwerp mayor wants to be a pioneer in esports and therefore it was the ideal opportunity to bring all of the pieces together and bring the world championship to Antwerp.”
