Pengu decides to retire as professional Rainbow Six Siege player

One of the best Rainbow Six Siege players, Niclas “Pengu” Mouritzen, has decided to step down as a professional player after dominating for quite a few years.

Pengu has openly spoken about the possibility of retiring but has now made it official. It’s a big loss for the Rainbow Six community, as Pengu went on to win the Six Invitational in both 2018 and 2019, becoming one of the best players to ever touch the game. Aside from his performances on a competitive front, he also built up a big community and is one of the biggest content creators and streamers surrounding the game.

In a statement he made in G2 Esports’ goodbye video, Pengu discusses his future and the process leading up to his decision to retire. “I felt quite lost in regards to what path I want to take next and the past year and a half gave me the time to reflect on my future.” In the video he also says he’ll likely be looking at working as a content creator and analyst going forward.

As for G2 Esports, their roster now has one player missing. They’ll be looking to pick up a replacement for Pengu’s spot but it’s currently unclear as to where they’ll turn next. In any case, it’ll be hard to replace a player of Pengu’s caliber.
