Professional player in the Overwatch League Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty, who played for the Houston Outlaws over the span of three years, has decided to retire from the game. Instead, he’ll move on to VALORANT, where he’s looking to stream and possibly compete.
Rawkus was a well-liked figure in the Overwatch scene, known for his positivity and leadership. On Saturday he took to Twitter to announce he’ll be leaving the competitive Overwatch scene. “Today is officially the end of my Overwatch career. While I’m excited for my future, today is incredibly bittersweet for me. It’s been so surreal to call the game I was passionate about my job for the past four years.”

After thanking all the teams he played with and his colleagues, Rawkus explained his decision to move on to VALORANT. “I grew up playing fps games like CS:GO, and Valorant hit me differently. When I realized how it had a similar style of CS:GO aiming mixed in with ability usage, I instantly felt comfortable.” Rawkus also says more information about his future and where he’ll be headed will be revealed soon.
Rawkus had a long and fruitful career in Overwatch, having started in 2016 with Ohno before moving on to FaZe Clan Contenders. After joining Houston Outlaws in 2017 he also competed in the Overwatch World Cup, where he took home the gold medal with team USA just last year.
