Overwatch 2 showcases new look for four heroes and new maps at Blizzconline

It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen some worthwhile news on Overwatch 2, but the silence has been broken at Blizzconline.

While most people didn’t expect any big updates on Overwatch 2, the developers showcased quite a bit of new stuff in the form of behind-the-scenes footage. Among the updates were some updated looks for some of the current heroes, being Reaper, McCree, Widowmaker and Pharah. According to the developers they wanted to modernize some of the heroes while still giving them a unique and recognizable look.

During the presentation Blizzard also showcased two new maps in the form of New York and Rome, maintaining the more futuristic look that most of the Overwatch maps possess. Especially the Rome map looks quite interesting as the map retains some of the classical elements such as columns intertwined with more modern elements.

We however still don’t know when Overwatch 2 is going to be released. Earlier this year Blizzard already came out to say they won’t be releasing the game in 2021, pointing more towards 2022 for a potential release date. Due to that announcement, most fans were quite disappointed and subsequently didn’t expect Blizzard to release new information on the game at Blizzconline. Those who are waiting to play Overwatch 2 will have to wait a little while longer, as Blizzard already detailed the competitive format and scene for Overwatch in 2021.
