OG to use niko as stand in for Dreamhack Masters Spring qualifier

Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen will play the Dreamhack Masters Spring Europe Closed Qualifier with OG, the organization announced on Saturday before the games.

niko, who has been on Heroic’s bench since late February, has been rumored to sign with the European team for a while now after OG benched Nathan “NBK” Schmitt.

The former lost his place on the active Heroic lineup together with Johannes “b0RUP” Borup, after the Danish organization brought in Ismail “refrezh” Ali and Rasmus “sjuush” Beck from MAD Lions just last week.

The latter was the sacrifice OG had to make amidst growing disagreements “on how to consistently perform at the highest level”.

This temporary deal between the two teams is a sign for many that an official transfer is underway. If OG is looking to sign the Danish 22-year old they will need to move fast in the negotiations because they’re one of 24 teams that will compete in ESL Pro League Season 13, scheduled to start on March 8.

The EU closed qualifier runs from March 6 to March 7 and will give the opportunity to three teams to qualify for the $250,000 main event. Dreamhack hopes to be able to hold the Masters on LAN in a studio April 29-May 9.
