NSYL and Atlanta FaZe dominate in week 2 of CDL Stage 2

Teams in both groups have continued to make waves in Stage 2, some for all the wrong reasons.

Week 2 of the second stage primarily featured Group A teams facing off to settle the early standings.

NSYL and Atlanta FaZe reign supreme

Sitting at the top of Group A, both FaZe and NYSL completed flawless weeks. A rather easy task for FaZe considering they only had a single game, their clean sweep of the LA Thieves cemented their undefeated status further at 12 straight series wins. Similar to Stage 1, FaZe sit atop the round win percentage and combined K/D of both Hardpoint and Control. Oddly enough, FaZe one weak point has been SND where they fall behind London and Paris in both of the aforementioned categories. This formerly dominant game mode for FaZe now may prove to be the best way for teams to catch the CDL kings off guard.

NYSL won both of their back-to-back games against the London Royal Ravens and LA Guerillas in a 3-1 fashion. Former CDL Champion and IGL for the New York Squad, Clayster, largely led these efforts. Expanding on the glimpsing of brilliance they saw in the Stage 1 playoffs, these wins have granted tem an optimal start to Stage 2.

LA Thieves start slow and OpTic struggles

The LA Thieves by far made the biggest move in the short offseason between the stages, switching out Temp for Venom. This switch did not bear immediate results as the Thieves only found one map win across their week. The LA Thieves currently hold some of the worst team stats as well as individual numbers, TJHaly ending in the lower elechon of K/Ds across Control (0.78) and Hardpoint (0.82). Perhaps a result of growing pains regarding their introduction of Venom, the LA Thieves will have turn their performance around if they hope for better seeding, as they currently sit at 1-3.

Chicago OpTic similarly fell 0-2 throughout the week to Minnesota Rokkr and the Florida Mutineers, suffering a sweep defeat both times. Ever reliant on their best fraggers, Dashy’s inconsistent performance truly caused the team to suffer as he has the lowest K/D on Hardpoint so far. These poor results have elicited an incredibly volatile response from the community.

Next week will provide both of these teams ample opportunity to redeem themselves, OpTic especially as their game versus Dallas Empire will cap off week 3.
