New York Subliners and LA Thieves progress through lower bracket in CDL Major

They might have been knocked down to the lower bracket, but New York Subliners and LA Thieves aren’t down for the count just yet.

Things were looking grim for both LA Thieves and the New York Subliners, as they got knocked down to the lower bracket with a convincing 3-0 score by LA Guerillas and Chicago Optic respectively. LA Thieves had a new challenge to face in the lower bracket with Toronto Ultra, while the New York Subliners tried to move past the Florida Mutineers.

New York Subliners looked like they’d be knocked out of the tournament by the Florida Mutineers, dropping the first two maps after narrowly losing Hardpoint and Search & Destroy. Clayster and the rest of the team bounced back however, taking the Mutineers down in a reverse sweep on Control, Hardpoint and S&D. Especially Diamondcon and Asim stepped up for the Subliners.

LA Thieves had an easier time against Toronto Ultra, breezing past them in Hardpoint of a strong performance by Kenny, winning 250-154. S&D also turned into a 6-1 blowout for LA Thieves, while Toronto put up more of a fight on Control. LA Thieves ended up winning 3-0, but Toronto Ultra made things difficult. LA Thieves will now go on to face OpTic Chicago, while New York Subliners take on LA Guerillas.
