The closed beta for Amazon’s New World began on Tuesday and has stormed right towards the top of Twitch. But besides the hype the MMO also made headlines as many players report that the game is bricking their GeForce RTX 3090 cards.
Amazon Games shifting the blame?
Several reports have also been on made on Reddit and the official forums as players share their stories of overheating hardware. Amazon Games’ initial reaction in their forum post was met with ridicule as many players thought they just shifted the blame. Reports continued to come in so that the developers saw themselves forced to state that their game was safe to play.
The Tweet also announced that it would implement a frame rate cap for the main menu in an attempt to fix the issues. It remains to be seen if that was the only factor contributing to the absurd strain on some GPUs, but New World’s Closed Beta continues to be the game to play on Twitch.
