Netflix might be looking to enter the gaming market
It’s looking more and more likely that Netflix might venture into the gaming market, according to multiple reports and rumors.
Netflix is reportedly looking to hire an executive who will be helping out the platform as it looks to expand into video games as well. In an earlier report by The Information Netflix seems to have already approached some veteran game industry executives and voices to potentially hire them and explore the direction the company should take with their video game plans. Reportedly, one of their plans is offering a kind of online subscription, giving access to a bundle of games.

In a statement they gave to Polygon and The Information, Netflix didn’t confirm the reports but did add they are planning to do more with gaming. “Our members value the variety and quality of our content. It’s why we’ve continually expanded our offering — from series to documentaries, film, local language originals and reality TV. Members also enjoy engaging more directly with stories they love — through interactive shows like Bandersnatch and You v. Wild, or games based on Stranger Things, La Casa de Papel and To All the Boys. So we’re excited to do more with interactive entertainment.”
When it comes to series and movies, Netflix has done plenty for the gaming audience. A new season of Castlevania just released, they’ve released Dota: Dragon’s Blood, will be releasing the animated League of Legends series and are looking at adapting multiple gaming titles in movie form as well. It’ll be interesting to see if Netflix will take the step into gaming and what will come from it.
