MSI and VALORANT Stage 2 Masters to take place in Reykjavik in May

After earlier leaks, Riot Games has now confirmed that MSI will take place in Reykjavik, Iceland, alongside the VALORANT Stage 2 Masters.

When it comes to MSI, Riot Games says the competition will kick off on May 6, with the final match being played on Sunday May 23. It’ll be a return to form for the competition, as last year’s edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. John Needham, Global Head of Esports for Riot Games, spoke about the announcement. “We are thrilled to showcase high-level Riot esports competition to a country as stunning and unique as Iceland, underscoring that passion for our esports can be found in every corner of the globe.”

Just a day after MSI concludes, Reykjavik will also host the VALORANT Stage 2 Masters, running from May 24 until May 30th. It’ll be the first VALORANT event that’ll feature live, international competition with top teams from around the world. Whalen Rozelle, Riot Games’ Senior Director of Esports, sees the event as a big step for the game. “VCT Masters Reykjavik is our next big step in further establishing VALORANT as the fastest-growing global esport.”

For many players and fans it’ll be fun to once again see top-tier competition on LAN, something most esports scenes have been deprived of ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world.
