MKers surprise many in the Six Invitational Group Stage

With the group stage of the Six Invitational 2021 concluded, some teams will be booted out of France relatively soon.

MKers however, the only team present that isn’t playing in a top league, has made it into the playoffs and have amazed many with their performance. They are not the only surprise to come out of this gruelling group stage however. Spacestation Gaming, featuring retired yet returning two time winner Troy ‘Canadian’ Jaroslawski, were almost dropped out of the groups, yet were able to stay ahead of Giants Gaming on round difference alone.

With them now going into best-of-three matches, chances are they can prepare better and possibly get far in the tournament with the experience they have in these kinds of situations. Another NA team that struggled was Oxygen Esports, with them luckily making a late charge to secure their spot in the top four, which is a shortcut to the later stages of the tournament. Especially their 7-0 against MKers, followed by an 8-7 overtime match against SSG were an emotional rollercoaster for their fans.

Europe on top

In group A, it seems as if the European powerhouses are still on top, with both Team Empire and BDS Esport topping the chart with a shared first place. With all the Brazilian teams making it out however, there might be a big challenge waiting for them in the playoffs. The teams have already faced each other in the group stage, which might mean they are able to adapt their playstyle in time.
