Professional CS:GO player Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas will no longer be competing in CS:GO and will instead look towards competing in Riot Games’ new game VALORANT. He’ll be representing G2 Esports, a team he briefly joined back in 2018 when he was still active as a CS:GO player.
Mixwell not returning to CS:GO might not come as a surprise to some people, as the Spanish player has been without a team since November. After Damian “daps” Steele, Timothy “Autimatic” Ta and Kenneth “koosta” Suen left Cloud9 to join Gen.G, Mixwell stayed behind without a team to represent. Mixwell has played for multiple teams, with OpTic Gaming and G2 Esports being other notable ones.

On Twitter, Mixwell talked about what the game of CS:GO meant to him and thanks his former teammates and organizations. “It has been an honor and a privilege to compete in your game, CS:GO. Thanks for all the good and bad moments that I will never forget, I am who I am today because of you. I want to thank everyone in the scene for taking care of me and your support means the world to me.”
With Mixwell joining G2 Esports the organization also announced the creation of their VALORANT team. They join other organizations such as 100 Thieves and T1, who also have been putting together a roster. In their statement, G2 Esports’ CEO Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez spoke about getting into VALORANT as an esport. “VALORANT really is an amazing game I enjoy both playing and watching. G2 will have a World Championship winning team and it all starts with Mixwell. Many top organizations fought hard for him and we are delighted he’s put so much trust into letting us build a killer lineup alongside him.”
