Minnesota RØKKR Standy’s tips to improve your aim in Call of Duty

Minnesota RØKKR are still in contention for the Call of Duty League Championship. Although they lost in their first round matchup they can still make it back from the Lower Bracket. But to get to this point it was a difficult and hard journey for Eli “Standy” Bentz and his teammates as he says in his interview.

Beginner mistakes and learnings

“When I first decided to become a pro I made a lot of fundamental mistakes like always trying to go for a kill or trying to just kill everyone I see.” Standy’s beginnings in professional Call of Duty sound familiar to many players trying to improve at competitive Call of Duty. In order to make it to where he is now, Standy had to adjust his mentality:

What I have learned is to make sure that the plays that I make are really impactful and really really can help my team get the win.

Teamwork is the most important thing for the CoD pro even if casual players are worrying more about their aim and movement.

How to improve your aim

The RØKKR star knows very well how it is to start from the bottom and has shared some tips in order to improve. His first one is fairly obvious: “Just play a lot. That is my number one tip, honestly. Because I did not randomly just hop on, play call of duty and have really good aim.”

Playing a lot means learning a lot, especially when observing experienced players. Standy recommends ranked League Play matches as you often face opponents that have good aim and good movement and thus offer a great training environment:

“The better competition you play against the better you are going to get. You may not be so good off the start. But you want to put yourself in a position where you always play against the best people you can play against, because that is how you elevate your game.”

Even at his pro level he is no exception and always willing to take a page out of the book of his direct competition:

“I have watched a lot of other pro players play and I took a lot from their game and it made me better.”
