Meta4Pro decide to leave DPC EU lower division due to match-fixing suspicions

Esports team Meta4Pro will be leaving the DPC EU, as they suspect one of their players might have been involved in match-fixing.

In a statement made on the Dreamhack website, more information is given about the decision. Meta4Pro themselves reached out to ESL Gaming after they suspected that one of their own players was involved in match-fixing. ESL will be launching an investigation together with Meta4Pro and the ESIC and has notified Valve of the situation.

The Meta4Pro team manager “INGVARD” also made a statement regarding their decision to leave the DPC EU. “The work to identify the violation is being carried out and will be completed. Also, some players categorically refused to continue playing in this squad because of the same suspicions in some players.”

To accommodate the departure of Meta4Pro from the DPC EU Lower Division, their upcoming match against Brame was cancelled, just like their match on February 22 against Creepwave, meaning there won’t be a broadcast that day. ESL Gaming also talked about the situation in the blog post. “The competitive integrity of our tournaments is our highest priority, and we encourage all players and teams to work with us on creating a clean and reliable competitive environment. Once ESIC’s and our investigation is completed, we will update the Dota community on its outcome.”
