The ongoing saga of MAD Lions’ roster shuffle seems to be continuing without an end in sight.
The Spanish organization has made another modification to their roster by benching Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and Fredrick “roeJ” Jørgensen. First acquiring an all-Danish roster in 2019 December, MAD Lions are now looking to transition to an international squad. RoeJ, the longest standing member of the original MAD Lions roster confirmed the organization’s intention in his Twitlonger along with stating his openness to either Danish or international positions. Former IGL, HooXi, released a similar statement.
MAD Lions’ roster changes began last month as they sold Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand to mousesports and dropped coach Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu. The most recent departure of Ismail “refresh” Ali and Rasmus “sjuush” Beck to Heroic led MAD Lions’ commitment to this rebuild. As it stands, Thomas “TMB” Bundsbæk is the only player carrying over into MAD Lions’ new lineup.

This era of MAD Lions most notably won Flashpoint 1. However after several changes they finished 5th-6th in Flashpoint 2 and have only seen middling results since. These lackluster finishes may have been the inciting incident motivating these drastic changes.
It is still largely unknown who will join TMB in this new roster, however 1pv.fr has made a few projections. Currently, MAD Lions is in talks with Simon “twist” Eliasson, Michal “Michu” Müller, and Bogdan “xsepower” Chernikov. All of these players are scattered across teams and regions and if these deals go through the 5th spot is still a mystery.
