When it comes to professional League of Legends players expectations are pretty high, especially in China. Experiencing this firsthand is LPL player and mid laner Jian “Teacherma” Chen, who currently plays for Team WE.
Teacherma currently holds a Platinum II rank on China’s Super Server which might become a problem as it might result in him losing his status as a professional League of Legends player. The LPL has a rule in place that all competitors must at least hold a Diamond I rank to be eligible to compete in the Chinese league, a standard Teacherma currently doesn’t meet. If Teacherma loses his professional status, he will not be able to compete in the LPL.

It’s not the first time a player has had issues with his soloqueue rank when it comes to competitive League of Legends as An “Balls” Van Le, who played for Cloud9 at the time, held a Diamond II rank in on the Korean server. Solo queue rank of professional players has led to numerous arguments and discussions on the internet. Lots of professional players have already spoken out that it’s impossible to judge professional players purely based on their solo rank, preferring other methods to train and prepare.
Professionally Teacherma has nothing to worry about as his team WE currently holds a 7-3 record in the LPL, but his solo queue rank might become an issue later on if he doesn’t listen to the warning and improve it.
