LoL: LEC Summer Finals move online

Riot had hoped to hold the LEC Summer Finals 2020 in Malmö. But considering the ongoing pandemic the developer has announced that the Summer Finals will move online after all.

The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) will start into the summer split on 12 June. Originally Riot had planned offline finals in Malmö, Sweden, but these plans were shelved for now. Nevertheless the on-site LEC studios in Berlin will be used for production. Although the crew will be reduced to comply with security and health protocolls, the LEC will have some semblance of normaility returned.

Offline play possible?

Although Malmö has been cancelled Riot has also announced that they will keep observing the situation and regulations as the situation develops. If governments continue to slowly decrease limitation the production crew will be increased again. Furthermore finals with only the players in attendance are also a possibility for the summer finals.

Considering the trend in Germany to slowly reopen public facilities the players might very well be back in the studio for september.
