After the recent announcement that the Mid-Season Invitational will be canceled, two of the major region have now announced the dates for the Summer Split 2020. While the LPL’s Spring Split is still ongoing and the LCK just concluded, the LCS and LEC are already gearing up for Summer.
Fans starved for renewed action in their domestic regions can now look forward to a definite end to the wait. The League of Legends Champions Series (LCS) will resume on June 13th while the Europeans will start the Summer Split on June 12th.

Grand Finals Rematch in NA
To start things of the LCS will begin with a grudge match between reigning champions Cloud 9 and last season’s runner-up FlyQuest. Academy matches will begin a day prior on June 12th. Starting with the Summer Split there will also be new starting times to adjust to. The LCS matches on Saturday and Sunday will be moved to 1:00 PM Pacific Time (PT) with four matches on each day. Additionally Monday will see two LCS games scheduled for 5:00 PM (PT).
It is unclear yet if or when the LCS will be moving back to the LAN studios for the Summer Split. But Riot announced, that if by the start of the Split a return to the studios is deemed unsafe the matches will continue to take place online.

In the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) the first matches will take place on June 12th. The first match of LEC’s Summer Split 2020 will be the champions from G2 taking on MAD Lions, who finished last Split with a strong performance at third place.
With the start date being pushed back to accomodate the initially postponed Mid-Season Invitational, the LEC will have two “superweeks” to finish the Split within their schedule. In these there will be LEC-matches throughout the entirety of Friday to Sunday. Already in the very first week there will be 15 matches to look forward to.
Riot has also announced the date for the Summer Split Finals, which are still planned to take place as an offline tournament in Malmö, Sweden. Scheduled for September 5th to 6th it remains to be seen if it can actually proceed. Riot is hopeful that the Pandemic might be receding at that point in time, but the developer also did not rule out a cancellation if the health and safety of all involved parties requires it.
Similar to its North American counterpart, the LEC will decide later when and if a return to the studios in Berlin is possibleduring the regular season.
