LoL – JD Gaming Conquers the LPL

The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) China bows to a new king. Led by Grand Finals MVP Zuo “LvMao” Ming-Hao JD Gaming defeated Top Esports 3-2 to take home the trophy.

In a contested series between the finalists the advantage went back and forth. JD struck first taking the first game but Top Esports not only equalised in game 2 but also earned themselves first championship point leading 2-1.

JD dealt well with the pressure and took game four to bring the series to a final game five. The decider proved to be just as competitive and had the fans on the edges of their seats until two crucial teamfights swung the momentum towards JD Gaming. The final nail in Top Esports’ coffin was dealt by LvMao’s brilliant Bard ultimate:

After falling just short at second place in last year’s Spring Split JD Gaming finally crown themselves the best of China. This spring’s LPL has once again shown the incredible depth of the Chinese region. With former and current world champions Invictus Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix eliminated in the semifinals one has to wonder just how strong the scene truly is.

With the cancellation of the Mid-Season Invitational fans will have to wait until Worlds 2020 to see China’s best match up against the stars across the world. However Riot recently announced a interregional showmatch between the LPL and Korea’s LCK to look forward to.
