LEC: G2 Esports dominate Fnatic while SK Gaming keep climbing the standings

There was a lot of hype surrounding day 2 of week 6 in the LEC, as Fnatic faced off against G2 Esports yet again, while SK Gaming had a chance to join the top teams.

Fnatic took on G2 Esports in the match of the week, as Fnatic pulled out the Yone for top laner Bwipo into Wunder’s Gragas. The early game comp of Fnatic didn’t work out as G2 Esports took over early through Gragas and especially jungler Jankos on Olaf. Another blow for Fnatic, who just can’t seem to find consistency with their overhauled roster and playstyle.

SK Gaming showed themselves as potential contenders by beating MAD Lions yesterday, but again performed that feat against Excel, beating out a direct rival for the playoff spots. Once again it was top laner Jenax who pulled out the Gnar, finding crucial engages on the Excel backline and opening up opportunities for jungler TynX and bot laner Jezu on Gragas and Jhin respectively.

In other matches Rogue secured their playoff spot and handily disposed of Astralis, who struggled immensely in the bot lane against a dominant Hans Sama on Kai’Sa, with Trymbi on Rell. MAD Lions bounced back from yesterday’s loss by beating Vitality, as the latter once again struggled with mid-to-late game macro management. Schalke 04 is still on their downward spiral, while Misfits Gaming is moving the opposite way, making the playoff race a little more interesting.
